Environmental, Social & Governance Policy

 

CAKE is committed to the implementation of sustainable environmental practices which minimise our environmental impact, foster social responsibility and contribute to a sustainable future. This policy outlines that commitment and the principles that guide our current thinking.

 

We want our environmental actions to be practical and realistic.  Where there are challenges, we are determined to address them and in particular we will aim to recycle whenever possible. 

 

We aim to develop a company culture that promotes environmental awareness, consideration and responsibility.  We also seek to minimise energy consumption and achieve measurable improvements in our use of such resources. 

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

 

Printing:

Paper use is a common area of concern and where possible we will seek to reduce the amount of paper used. We have moved away from the provision of printed materials to a digital learning platform, CAKE Connect, where participants can access learning resources online.

 

Waste Minimisation:

We will aim to minimise waste by evaluating our operations and ensuring we are as efficient as possible and minimising single-use items.

 

Water conservation:

We will aim to manage our water resources carefully and use water wisely and by addressing any leaks or malfunctions that cause wastage.

 

Energy efficiency:

We will strive to minimise energy consumption in our operation by, where possible, adopting energy-efficient technologies and practices.

 

Recycling:

We will endeavour to recycle all recyclables, especially those harmful to the environment such as ink cartridges, light bulbs and machinery that has reached the end of its useful life.  We will also encourage the use of the reverse side of scrap paper for internal documents.

 

Electric Vehicles:

We encourage the use of sustainable transportation options such as carpooling, public transportation, or cycling. CAKE has introduced electric vehicles/hybrid to use sustainable resources and will move away from vehicles that use fossil fuel. 

 

 

SOCIAL POLICY

 

We value diversity, inclusion, and fair treatment of all individuals within CAKE and all stakeholders. We support local communities through social initiatives, volunteering, and charitable contributions. Our team have given time, past and present to:

 

- Volunteering in a primary school as a Co-Chair of Governors. 

- Coaching the Leadership team of that school on a pro-bono basis.

- Parish Councillor 

- Coaching young actors in Amateur Dramatic groups

- Trustee of a children’s charity

- Volunteer Mentor for EMCC

- Volunteer helper for RDA (Riding for Disabled)

- Business mentor and Trainer for Prince's Trust

- Samaritan

- Chair of Pre-school committee

 

We uphold human rights and ensure fair labour practices in our supply chain.

The health and safety of our employees, customers and stakeholders are a top priority and we are committed to providing a safe working environment.

Our Governance Policy addresses transparency, accountability and ethical behaviour. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standard of governance and compliance which includes protecting customer data, safeguarding privacy and upholding strong ethical values. By addressing good governance, we provide our customers with the assurance that their interests are protected and that their trust in CAKE is well placed.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

We actively engage with stakeholders, including customers, employees, suppliers and the local community. Feedback from stakeholders shapes the decisions we make. 

 

Policy Review:

CAKE will review this Policy at least annually to consider how it might be enhanced.
